For most makers, PET-based slime glitter is the best choice. It keeps a strong shine, is more flexible inside slime than many craft glitters, and is suitable for clear, butter, cloud and crunchy slime when used as directed.
Some craft glitters work, but many are not tested in slime bases and can bleed, cloud clear slime or feel scratchy. For slime you sell to customers or use with kids, it’s safer to choose glitter that is specifically described and tested as slime glitter.
Fine glitter is ideal for clear, jelly and butter slime where you want smooth stretch and even shimmer. Chunky and mixed-size glitters are better for crunchy, floam and “statement” slimes that rely on bold texture and visible pieces.
As a starting point, many shops use around 2–5 g of fine glitter per 100 g (about 4 oz) of slime base for a classic shimmer. Chunky and mix glitters usually need less by weight to look full. You can adjust the amount based on jar size, recipe and the look you want.
